Ambassador offers trips to Hrísey
Ambassador Whale Watching now offers special trips to Hrísey, called „The Pearl – Hrisey Island.“ Bookings are now available on their website, and the company sails out to Hrísey four times a week. Another similar trip to Grímsey is available three times a week. Visitors are taken aboard the Arctic Circle and the boat leaves at 18:00 pm from Torfnuesbryggja in downtown Akureyri. Estimated arrival back to Akureyri is at around 22:30 pm.
Of course, the guides are on the lookout for whales along the way to Hrísey and are very likely to spot the whales as their flukes come out of the water before the big dive. On arrival to Hrísey, the visitors are taken aboard a carriage that is towed by an old tractor and driven around parts of the island. After that tour, the next stop is at the house of Shark-Jörundur, where the visitors learn about shark fishing.
Included in the trip is a dinner made up of delicious seafood at a local restaurant, where the visitors are also entertained by local musicians. For more info about this trips, see Ambassador‘s website.
