In Siglufjörður, immerse yourself in history at the Herring era museum, or enjoy outdoor activities in the wonderful nature of the Tröllaskagi peninsula.
Ólafsfjörður town has a wide range of recreational opportunities, including whizzing around on sea jets.
More small fishing villages can be visited when driving the Eyjafjörður. Dalvík offers whale-watching trips and from there the ferry Sæfari also sails out to the beautiful island of Grímsey. Coming to Grímsey is a unique experience and there is probably no better place to experience tranquillity, energy and magic. In Grímsey, you can also step north of the Arctic Circle.
There is a hotel and a guesthouse in Dalvík. There is also a guesthouse in Grímsey.
It is no problem to sail out to Hrísey from Árskógssandur (10 min drive from Dalvík) and spend time there in the beautiful nature and birdlife. The sailing is only 15 minutes, so you can come back the same day if you wish. On Árskógssandur, there is also The Beer Spa and Kaldi Brewery.
The nearest village south of Árskógssandur is Hauganes, with its charming hot tubs on the beach, whale-watching tours and an excellent restaurant.
The day can end at a guesthouse in the countryside or in Akureyri. On the way to Akureyri, we recommend stopping at Hjalteyri, a small village with many hidden gems
