When you arrive in North Iceland from the west, Laugarbakki is the first stop with a pleasant atmosphere in this small village. The direction is taken to Hvammstangi, it's about a 10-minute drive. There is a good camping area at Hvammstangi, a guesthouse, a small hotel, and a restaurant with a fantastic view.

You can use your time at Hvammstangi to visit the Icelandic Seal Center, and those interested in Icelandic handicrafts can see the knitting factory Kidka. Enjoy strolling around the harbour area and relaxing in this small fishing village.

Driving the Vatnsnes peninsula is extremely fun. Ensure you don't miss the Hamarsrétt sheep round-up when you set off from Hvammstangi. It is located on the shore, which is unique in Iceland. On the way, it is also essential to recall the story of Agnes and Natan – the last execution in Iceland. Stop at Illugastaðir, where the murders occurred, and see the remaining ruins. You can also try to spot some seals. Vatnsnes peninsula is the best area in Iceland to see seals.

Continue driving around this beautiful peninsula and enjoy the view. Hvítserkur sea stack is probably the most famous in Iceland, but far too few have taken the time to see it. When there is a low tide, you can also walk up to Hvítserkur and take fun pictures.

Next, stopping at Borgarvirki, a 10-15 meter tall pillar rock would be ideal. A unique natural phenomenon with a panoramic view over a large part of the province. It's fun to sit inside the fort and enjoy a pick nick.
