Sigló vill keep you captive: At the scene of TRAPPED

This weekend the UK sees the finale of TRAPPED the Icelandic crime show that has taken viewers by storm. Set in a remote town in Iceland, the show was actually shot mostly in the town of Siglufjörður on the northern coast of Iceland. Insider tells us that the cast and crew endured heavy snow and gusty winds for weeks on end but exactly those weather conditions were detrimental for the shows dark and mysterious settings.

This weekend the UK sees the finale of TRAPPED the Icelandic crime show that has taken viewers by storm.  Set in a remote town in Iceland, the show was actually shot mostly in the town of Siglufjörður on the northern coast of Iceland. Insider tells us that the cast and crew endured heavy snow and gusty winds for weeks on end but exactly those weather conditions were detrimental for the shows dark and mysterious settings. The cast and crew filled almost every hotel in the small town and the local bars and restaurants were frequented by cast members. When the cast and crew felt overwhelmed by the entrapment of the small town a weekend sport was apparently to drive over to Akureyri the northern capital only an hour drive away and visit bookstores and enjoy the culture for a day.

Siglufjörður and its surroundings are spectacular to say the least; in the cold winter months the northern lights make Siglo (as locals call this most northern town in the country ) their home and the mountains surrounding the small town are a real treat to ski lovers.

Lively summers

During the summer months there are lots of activities to be enjoyed, amazing trails to walk, fishing, amazing museums and nature like no other to be explored and of course the scene of the Trapped crime.

Admirers of the show have fallen in love with the lead characters in the show.  The giant hairy copper Andri and his fashion style – the unzipped coat  in the blistering storm  and  Hinrikkas eyebrows and ever questioning gaze. An admirer drew this adorable picture of her. We love it!

What viewers do not know is that the big green building that sits on the water and frequently seen in exterior scenes of Trapped is actually a luxury hotel, Siglo Hotel, and a unique one at that. Rumors have it that Trapped lovers have already started booking nights there seeking the thrill of the shows crime scene. The Trapped tour is a also a must. The crime scene of TRAPPED is expected to be flooded by tourists in unzipped coats this coming summer. We can’t tell you all what you can hope to see in Siglufjörður… we do not want to spoil the fun… but let’s say that…you just have to visit…

Recently a tourist in Iceland Noel Santillan became world famous almost in an instance by misspelling a street name when arriving in Iceland. He was taken off course by 260 miles and actually landed in the town of Trapped, Siglufjörður. Watch a video about his hilarious trip here.
