Design Thing is a festival of design and innovation. The festival is held in Húsavík, Iceland, at the beginning of October. This year's focus is on music and the various intersections of design and music. There will be exhibitions, lectures, concerts, workshops, and various other events from October 4-5, 2024. The program will include, among others, a board member from Bang & Olufsen, a professor from the Iceland University of the Arts, rockers from Skálmöld metal band, and nationally renowned musicians.

14:00 - CCP/Bergur Finnbogason , creative director CCP (Video game design)
Design and music in the Icelandic video game Eve Online.
15:00 - Lyrics and sound universe of Skálmöld
Snæbjörn Ragnarsson, bassist and lyricist, discusses the narrative world of Skálmald, its origins, the works themselves, and how more than just the band, the music, and the lyrics have contributed to shaping it all together. The lecture will be laid-back, with ample opportunity for conversation and questions.

10:00 - Páll Einarsson - creative director Rafnar boat design
Chief Designer at Rafnar boat building will talk about boat design and more.
11:00 til 16:00 – Sound Pipes

11:00 - Goddur - Imagery in heavy metal.
Guðmundur Oddur Magnússon, professor of graphic design and artist, will give a lecture on imagery in heavy metal.
13:00 - Keynote: Bang og Olufsen - TUULA RYTILÄ
A board member of the well-known international design and audio equipment company, Bang & Olufsen, will deliver the keynote speech.
14:00 - ONANOFF - Buddyphones (New product)
The innovation company ONANOFF will discuss the design of headphones, both those currently on sale and new designs coming to market in the next few months.
15:00 - Genki Instruments (New product)
The innovation company Genki unveils a new product inspired by Icelandic nature. Ólafur from Genki talks about the development process and provides sound samples. The product will be on display at the festival.
16:00 - Fighting the dragon
Bibbi, Steinunn, Flexi, and Goddur discuss design and music in a broad context. Bergur Finnbogason (artistic director at CCP) will be the panel moderator.
17:20 - DJ Flugvél og geimskip
DJ Flugvél og Geimskip is a musical and adventure project by Steinunn Eldflaug Harðardóttir, blending energetic dance music, stories about space, light shows, theater, and fun. At concerts, we embark on a journey through the vastness of the mind, as far as we desire... Colors, catchy melodies, and playfulness reign supreme!
21:00 - Una Torfa in GeoSea
The festival concludes with a concert by Una Torfa at the GeoSea Sea Baths.
